Young Experts in Science (YES) Meetings

The Young Experts in Science (YES) Meeting is an annual event sponsored by Johnson & Johnson EMEA, designed to support specialists at the early stages of their careers in prostate cancer treatment.

The programme focuses on developing a broad range of skills that enhance patient care. Now in its third consecutive year, the meeting brings together delegates from across the EMEA region for a tailored, interactive agenda curated by our Scientific Committee, fostering scientific exchange at a regional level.

Young Experts in Science (YES) Meetings

Meeting Highlights

The 2025 meeting was held in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on Monday 24 and Tuesday 25 November, with 37 delegates attending from 12 EMEA countries. The group included both returning and new participants, continuing the work and discussions initiated during the 2023 and 2024 meetings.

The agenda featured a range of sessions, including a forward-looking APCCC-style voting segment focused on advanced prostate cancer, a multidisciplinary workshop addressing complex case management, and a session exploring the use of artificial intelligence in clinical practice.

The Scientific Committee outlined the following objectives for the 2025 meeting:

  1. Interpreting Clinical Data: Enable participants to review and discuss the latest clinical data on prostate cancer to support informed treatment decisions and improvements in practice.
  2. Enhancing Clinical Research: Share methodologies and strategies aimed at advancing clinical research in prostate cancer, with a focus on innovation and development.
  3. Engaging in Peer Debate: Promote informed discussion among delegates on current clinical data and emerging topics in prostate cancer, encouraging collaborative learning.
  4. Networking and Knowledge Sharing: Provide opportunities for delegates to exchange insights, share best practices, and explore approaches to improving patient outcomes in prostate cancer care.

Highlights of the two-day agenda included:

1. Advancements in Prostate Cancer Care

A standout session was “Game changers: Latest developments in prostate cancer,” where we explored the most recent evidence and breakthroughs in prostate cancer treatment. The discussion provided valuable insights into how these advancements are shaping clinical practice and improving patient outcomes

2. Building Resilience in Clinical Practice

The “Resilience in action: Addressing compassion fatigue in daily practice” session was particularly impactful. It addressed the mental health challenges faced by healthcare professionals and offered practical strategies for recognising and managing burnout in high-intensity settings

3. Translating Research into Real-World Impact

During “Turning concepts into reality: Developing proposals and forging partnerships in prostate cancer research,” we learned how to transform research ideas into actionable proposals and build effective collaborations with both academia and industry, ultimately enhancing the quality and reach of clinical research

4. Harnessing AI for Better Patient Care

On Day 2, the “AI in action: Practical applications for prostate cancer care and research” session stood out. It focused on the ethical and responsible use of AI in healthcare, demonstrating how AI tools can support clinical decision-making and drive innovation in research
